GOOD TO KNOW

HOW DID WE KEEP THE WEIGHT IMPRESSIVELY LOW?

The brilliant performance-to-weight ratio is one of the key strengths of the AT Endura. The front lens element is a 75 mm mono lens (instead of an achromatic lens system), which, together with a 62 mm achromat lens further back in the system, builds the objective lens system. A smaller lens means a reduction in glass volume, and this automatically results in reduced weight. For this new optical solution a new type of glass is also being used.

The AT Endura achieves a weight advantage of about 40% in its optical components compared to the ATS 20-60x80. The total weight of the AT Endura’s glass components is also almost 1.4 oz lighter than that of the small ATS 20-60x65 model.

DOES THE AT ENDURA OFFER A WIDE-ANGLE FIELD OF VIEW?

The 21-65x AT Endura eyepiece calculation is based on the well-known and proven 20-60x eyepiece. As a large zoom range naturally affects the field of view, the AT Endura does not provide a wide-angle view throughout the whole magnification range (and this is also a noticeable difference in comparison with the top-of-the-line ATX/STX models).

Proven over time, the 20-60x eyepiece has been the most popular choice among users, valued for its extensive zoom range, making it highly versatile in use. Building on this experience, the AT Endura has been developed with an impressive 3.1x zoom factor (21-65x) to deliver utmost versatility as a true all-round scope.

WHY IS THERE AN ANGLED VERSION ONLY?

Sales history shows that angled spotting scopes significantly outsell straight models, and the proportion of straight scopes sold globally has steadily declined over the last few years. So at this point, the decision is driven by sales data and the commitment to maintaining a focused product portfolio.

WHAT MANY USERS APPRECIATE ABOUT AN ANGLED VIEW:

Mounted on a tripod at a comfortable standing or sitting height, the angled scope allows for a relaxed viewing position. The angled design truly shines when it comes to versatility – it makes sharing the scope between users of different heights effortless and also delivers greater comfort for high-angle viewing, such as scanning treetops for birds or spotting chamois or bighorn sheep in steep mountain terrain. The ability to keep the set-up lower and more compact improves overall stability – a decisive advantage in windy conditions or challenging outdoor environments.

EXTRA INSIGHTS

As the production of optical glass generates a comparatively high CO2 footprint, the reduction of glass volume in devices not only cuts weight but also results in a significantly reduced carbon footprint.
